Javan
Rhino

We use a Javan coffee, which is a fantastic blend of 50% natural Brazilian arabica and 50% Vietnamese washed robusta and perfect as an everyday drink. High in body and light in acidity, this coffee is smooth and sweet on the palette and has flavours of spice and chocolate, with cinnamon notes. 

This coffee has an extremely rare namesake - the Javan rhino. Of the five rhino species, the Javan is the rarest and there are only around 60 left in the world. It’s native to Vietnam, but is now completely extinct in its home country. The remaining rhinos now live in safety in the Ujung National Park in Indonesia. The Javan rhino looks very like its big brother the greater one-horned rhino, but has a smaller head and a smoother skin. Numbers of greater one-horned rhino are on the increase thanks to sustained efforts by conservationists, but the Javan rhino still desperately needs help. As some Vietnamese beans go into our Javan blend, we’re delighted to offer our support to this incredibly worthwhile cause.
